Parametric Product Development Group is a product design and engineering services firm serving a wide variety of clients within the medical device, appliance, consumer product, fabrication and heavy equipment industries.

Parametric PDG fills a niche between traditional technical staffing firms and more costly brick-and-mortar product design firms. Parametric PDG aims to break down the barriers that prevent smaller companies, start-ups, and larger firms alike, from finding capable product development talent and resources when they need it.

The Problem

The problem is that technical staffing firms are generally not interested in placing candidates in short-term contracts or on projects on an as-needed basis. Although traditional brick-and-mortar product design firms can handle short-term projects, they are renowned for charging high hourly rates ($125-$300 per hour) to cover fixed overhead and non-billable “downtime”.  These high rates are often not within reach of smaller companies, start-ups, and independent inventors, who are often understaffed and who would benefit from outside expertise.

Parametric PDG primarily works on a project by project basis.  However, for those clients with ongoing needs for part-time engineering support, but not enough to justify adding a full-time engineer to their staff, Parametric PDG offers fractional rates.  For example, if a client consistently needs 50 hours of engineering support per month, we offer discounted rates for a 6-month service commitment.  This allows us to dedicate resources to a particular customer and provides for level scheduling to minimize “downtime” for optimum efficiency and lower cost.
